Position Summary:

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for both the management and administration of the organization’s benefit programs.  Advises employees on eligibility, coverage and other benefits matters and serves as a liaison with vendors to ensure the highest level of customer service.  Works closely with HRIS as the system administrator for the benefit plan processes, ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and analyzes benefit plan utilization and other metrics. In partnership with the Director HR Operations, will research and recommend benefit plan design and process improvements, develop benefit communications, and lead special projects including benefit program implementations, vendor transitions, and other organizational initiatives.

Key Outcomes:

  • Assists employees with benefits questions and issues and follows-up directly and in collaboration with the HR Service Center.
  • Develops and implements efficient and effective benefit administrative processes and communications for all employee benefit plans.
  • Performs benefit system tasks, audits transactions, and works with HRIS to ensure accuracy of participant eligibility and enrollment in the organization’s HRIS and vendors systems.
  • Reconciles and processes all benefit plan invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitors and ensures the accuracy of benefit plan documents and completes employee benefit plan compliance tasks and reporting to comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Partners with benefit program vendors and ensures plans are administered consistent with plan documents and participant expectations.
  • Manages the benefits open enrollment process to ensure employees have a solid understanding of the benefits and the tools and resources available to make informed decisions.
  • Analyzes benefit program utilization and processes to identify, recommend, and engage in process improvements.
  • Designs and implements benefit communication plans in conjunction with the Director HR Operations and Organizational Communications team.
  • Participates in benefit plan design review, analysis, and recommendations in collaboration with the Director HR Operations.
  • Acts as backup for the Leave & Benefits Administrator and other HR functions

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education/experience level or training
  • 4+ years of experience in in benefits administration and analysis or equivalent experience within the HR field with a focus in benefits

Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):

  • Certification as a benefits specialist/professional preferred
