The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for a full-time, two-year, fixed-length Lecturer of Nursing and Laboratory/Learning Resources Assistant. This is an academic year (September through May) appointment with an anticipated start date of August 21, 2023, for orientation with the semester beginning on August 28, 2023. Travel is required to support distance site labs.
The Lecturer of Nursing is responsible for teaching nursing students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting, as assigned. Teaching assignments are made based on education and experiential qualifications. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development and participating in the program and university-wide committees and meetings. As the Laboratory/Learning Resources Assistant, this position is responsible for the instruction of students in the open laboratory setting. This includes supporting labs as a nursing content expert, assisting in managing setup as well as inventory for lab and simulation experiences, assisting with the maintenance and organization of supplies and equipment in the Nursing Resource Laboratory, and collaborating with the Lab/Simulation Manager in scheduling open lab practice sessions for all nursing students.
UMA’s Nursing Program is taught through a concept-based curriculum that emphasizes caring science. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to support diversity and student access, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices. Salary: A typical salary for this academic year appointment is in the low-to-mid 50s and is commensurate with qualification as experience.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Current unencumbered Maine or compact state RN license, or eligibility for Maine licensure
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- At least two years of clinical experience
- Ability to travel to different UMA locations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience teaching in a Nursing Education Program
- Experience in Nursing Practice in a variety of practice settings
- Experience in Obstetrics and/or Pediatrics
