The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Worker, Career Level 1 in the Custodial department at the Augusta campus. The facilities maintenance worker performs tasks related to custodial care and cleaning university facilities; securing campus buildings; reporting needed repairs and equipment failures; floor maintenance; room set-ups; moving furniture and equipment; snow removal and other manual labor. The employee will work with materials and chemicals associated with cleaning. This position is designated as an essential position requiring the individual to be able to work during periods of inclement weather and/or campus emergencies.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.
Wage: $15.64 per hour. This is a regular, full-time position.

Required Qualifications:
- the ability to work nights and weekends and in adverse weather conditions
- the ability to work occasional overtime hours
- the ability to lift, carry and move 50 pounds
- the ability to read and follow written and oral instructions
- the ability to work independently
- the ability to do manual cleaning and perform manual labor including snow shoveling.
This can be a physically demanding position and typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical assessment is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- previous related custodial experience
- valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
