The University of Maine at Augusta invites applications for a full-time Administrative Specialist CL2 to support the Dental Health Programs and UMA Lewiston Center. This position will provide clinic and administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the University’s Dental Health Clinic and the Lewiston Center. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain the Lewiston Dental Clinic and Laboratory and coordinate the functions of both while ensuring compliance with the applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The anticipated start date for this position is May 1, 2023. The work schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the department and will include some evening hours. Travel to the UMA Bangor Campus Dental Clinic is required up to three times per semester; therefore, reliable transportation is required.
Dental Clinic Responsibilities Include: proficiency with computer technology, maintaining clinical/lab supplies and dental equipment, inventory control management, enforcing compliance with safety and environmental protection regulations, scheduling patients using a cloud based dental software system, checking in clinic patients, collecting payments and making daily deposits, collecting and maintaining dental student records, coordinating N95 mask fit testing, orgainizing new student orientations and clinic tours.
- This position requires annual Bloodborne Pathogens training, must follow the CDC and OSHA guidelines including immunizations, and complete infection control training for dental healthcare workers (training is provided by the UMA Dental Health Programs).
Administrative Responsibilities Include: assisting students with registration, proctoring exams, student support services, troubleshooting technical issues with video conferencing systems, providing clerical support, compiling reports, processing confidential information, maintaining a complex filing systems.
Wage: $17.69/hour or the appropriate transfer rate for a current UMS employee.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional additional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and sufficient experience
- Two years of administrative support experience
- Fluency with office management software (Microsoft Office to include Excel and Word, as well as Google Workspaces)
- Inventory and/or supply management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy, and often interrupted environment
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Customer service experience
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgement to solve problems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maintaining records and files
- Preparing unique and specialized documents
- Experience in a university or similar office setting
- Relevant professional experience in a healthcare environment
