

Bismark Akoto is an emerging leader in Maine’s workforce and community development landscape, driven by a commitment to equity, opportunity, and inclusive innovation. A junior at Thomas College majoring in Digital Media and Communications, Bismark blends communication expertise with a passion for building bridges across cultures and uplifting underrepresented groups.
Originally from Ghana, he brings a global perspective to his work and a deep appreciation for the power of belonging. At Thomas, he serves as President of the International Club and previously worked as a Community and Belonging Intern, where he supported campus-wide initiatives that strengthened inclusive engagement and empowered students from all backgrounds.
Outside the classroom, Bismark is a Social Media and Marketing Intern with the Travis Mills Foundation, leveraging digital strategy, content creation, and analytics to help drive impact for veterans and their families. His work reflects his broader mission: using communication, leadership, and technology as tools for community transformation.
As an emerging leader with the Diversity Hiring Coalition of Maine, Bismark is committed to advancing equitable hiring practices, amplifying diverse talent, and helping build a workforce where every Mainer has access to opportunity. With a focus on collaboration, storytelling, and strategic advocacy, he strives to inspire others and create lasting, meaningful change across the state.
